Is this a possible ins Creed 2 glitch.?

Okay, so i am in venice and i am on the part where you get the mask for the next mission, if that even matters. But until now i notice that my plain cape isn't plain anymore. it is still black, but It has all these golden brownish designs on it. I don't recall the plain cape ever being that way or ever getting an upgrade for it. Did i get it by collecting codexes, and i somehow wasn't listening? And it is not any other cape because it clearly says PLAIN. It doesn't even appear on the wiki page. has anyone else encountered this?
