How do you focus a Powershot A650 IS?

There is a macro on on the camera. Hit it and a picture of a flower should appear on the LCD. That is macro mode. You'll have better luck if a friend composes and takes the photo. Put the camera on a trips and shoot in good light. Grain and bluriness may be from shooting in low light.
